Malloy Apartments Review
I saw a really great building this week. It's in the University District here in Seattle. Check it out below.
The Malloy is located in the UDistrict and was built in 1928. Hands down it is one of my favorite buildings. It's 8 floors tall and has 123 units. At the time of viewing, studio apartments were renting for $1023 per month. According to the onsite manager, the price is re-evaluated every four days by the property management company, which makes rents hard to guess at time of signing. I wonder if we will see this from more property management companies in the near future. Sadly, I think we will.
The building itself is beautiful and everything has been kept close to it's original state, though modern upgrades have been made where necessary. In the studio apartments, the original, steel, murphy beds have been removed in order to make way for plenty of space to turn the "bed closet" into a room that can be closed off from the rest of the apartment. The kitchen is small but the appliances are full sized. This would be plenty of room to cook for one or two people. There is even a cute breakfast nook and swinging french doors dividing the kitchen and living area. The bathroom was standard with full sized tub and toilet. This apartment also had a large closet aside from the "bed closet" mentioned earlier.
If I were looking to live in the University District, this building would be at the top of my list. The proximity to UW and 1920's stylings make it a great find.
